Nestled in Kilpauk, Chennai is Archana Jain's abode, fondly called Kritagya. The apartment fills out in three bedrooms, a living room, dining and a kitchen. The house's neutral palette incorporates earthy colors, where the pop of colors is provided by artwork. The artwork around the house has been collected over the family's travels. Each piece focuses on craftsmanship, reflecting the family's aesthetics and values of conservation. The brass vases, collages of block paint stamps, metallic and organic animal artifacts and gold accents adorn the house and add to the charm.

The entire furniture of the house has been made out of black stained teak wood, balancing and creating harmony amongst other decor. The house has been sensitively designed, considering each resident's needs. The methodical approach has ensured there’s ample space to be utilized for different purposes.

The house places focus on functionality and practicality. The Venetian plastered accent walls allows for easy maintenance. The bedrooms, with their kota flooring, aid in cooling for Chennai’s weather. The apartment is a reflection of modern and traditional sensibilities. The living room features a sturdy swing, balancing playfulness and genuineness.

The design of each room places importance on its function rather than at the cost of comprising its aesthetics. The apartment has a modern yet traditional approach, making it a perfect home to return to.
