The project presented a unique challenge, having a narrow footprint of 24'-0" x 100'-0" and close proximity to adjacent structures, there was less scope of natural light entering the space. This led to a centric design layout. Upon entering, an open-plan layout seamlessly unfolds into the formal living room, informal living area, and kitchen, establishing a cohesive spatial flow. The muted palette of greys and browns sets a serene tone, while the informal living area connects to a balcony through sliding-folding doors, creating a fluid dialogue between indoor and outdoor spaces.
The interiors celebrate materiality, with white Vietnam flooring juxtaposed against grey Italian marble, accentuating the minimalist ethos. To mitigate the narrow proportions, dynamic design elements such as baffle ceilings in the informal living area bring visual interest. Custom furniture, soft furnishings, and a carefully curated lighting scheme elevate the understated aesthetic, creating a harmonious and inviting atmosphere. A pivoted swing, thoughtfully placed as a dual-purpose partition, bridges the formal and informal living spaces, allowing for versatile functionality while maintaining visual continuity.
This home is a sanctuary designed to slow time, fostering reconnection with oneself and loved ones. By staying true to material authenticity and inviting nature indoors through tactile forms and experiences, it offers a tranquil retreat from the fast-paced world. The three bedrooms follow the overarching design language of minimalism and functionality, with subtle infusions of color to lend warmth and character, creating spaces that radiate comfort and liveliness. Additionally, the use of art grabs attention and mindfully creates thoughts of interpretation and inspiration.
